Medieval Boot
The Medieval boot is derived from the "Stepping through Time,
Archaeological Footwear from Prehistoric Times until 1800" and is
classified as a front laced (type 60) and a instep toggle fastening (type 35). Found
in Dordrecht, Maastricht, and Vlaardingen, Konstanz, and most of Europe, this is a classic 14 century boot.
The Medieval Boot is representative of many
similar types of boots dating from 1150 to 1500. It is very
similar to the Konstanz buckle boot (type 85). The Medieval boot is the perfect generic nobleman's
boot of the middle ages.
Although the original was a turn shoe, this boot is McKay stitched, and the pattern of the shoe is almost exact, with a few minor changes for
modern comfort. Each of these boots is made of 3 to 4 oz
cow hide leather or equivalent, leather sole, all sewing is
machine overstitched. Instructions will be included to help you set the
medieval boot up as either a type 35 or type 60. If your would
like the
toggle or type 35 version, you will be given instructions for making your own
toggles and fitting them as non are included.
The medieval boot is perfect for middle ages living history,
100 years war, war of the roses, historical reenactments groups, LARP, and the SCA.
Available for Men in
brown for $125.
