Anglo Saxon & Viking Helms

Sutton Hoo Helm

Based on the British Museums reproduction of the King's helmet discovered in the Anglo Saxon ship burial at Sutton Hoo, our helmet is SCA legal! Be warned a unique gorget or neck protection will be necessary and will most likely be needed to pass an armor inspection.

The top is 13 gauge, the check plates, face, and back are 14 gauge. The nasal and eyebrow pieces are cast bronze.

Valsgarade VII or Vendal 7 Helm

Valsgarade VIII or Vendel 8 Helm

The original Valsgarade 8, or Vendel, helm had a chain mail drape suspended around the band and under the goggles which we do not provide. This helm is SCA legal. 12 gauge back slats to replace the leather originals. The top is 13 gauge, the check plates and goggles are 12 gauge. The nasal and eyebrow pieces are cast bronze. (to just get the bronze pieces go to Raymond's Quiet Press).

Valsgarade XIV or Upland Helm

The Upland Helm or the Valsgarade 14 Helm is also SCA legal. 12 gauge back slats to replace the leather originals. The top is 13 gauge, the check plates are 14 gauge. The nasal and eyebrow pieces are cast bronze and are from the Vendel XIV helm. (to just get the bronze pieces go to Raymond's Quiet Press). Above is a plaque version and plain version of this helm.

Valsgarade VI Helm

Based loosely on the Valsgarade 5 & 6, or Vendel helm, this had a chain mail drape suspended around the band and under the goggles which we do not provide. This helm is SCA legal. 12 gauge back slats to replace the leather originals. The top is 13 gauge, the check plates and goggles are 12 gauge. The nasal and eyebrow pieces are cast bronze and are from the Vendel XIV helm. (to just get the bronze pieces go to Raymond's Quiet Press). We are also doing a plaque version of this helm soon.
